RELAY FOR LIFE
DONEGAL

Relay for Life, a 24 hour community celebration,
is back on Saturday May 28th and
Sunday May 29th 2022 to raise money for
the Irish Cancer Society.

Why do we relay non – stop for 24 hours? …
Because Cancer Never Sleeps.

Relay for Life represents the hope that those
who have lost their lives to cancer will never
be forgotten, that those who face cancer
will be supported and that one day we will
live in a cancer free world.

Relay For Life is a community-based initiative in support of the Irish Cancer Society and their work in patient support and research. Relay is a team fundraising event where teams gather to walk for 24 hours to raise funds for the Irish Cancer Society.

The event is based around a walking track and at all times during the event, at least one person from each team is walking on the track. Each team has a cancer awareness theme which they promote at their team base. In addition, as part of their fundraising efforts, the teams can also run fundraising events over the 24 hour event if they wish.

Relay For Life is all about:

Celebrate

During our opening Survivor lap, we celebrate cancer survivors from our community and their successes in recovering from or living with cancer, Survivors are a beacon of hope to us all.

REMEMBER

During the Candle Of Hope ceremony at dusk, we remember those from our community  lost to cancer and to inspire those still undergoing treatment.

Fight Back

This is about the community reducing their risk of cancer by promoting healthy eating, active lifestyles, quitting smoking and encouraging their friends and family to seek advice if worried about cancer symptoms.
